Can more than one planter box fit in a box so I can save on shipping?  

Often times we can fit up to 2 planter boxes in one of our larger boxes.  There might be a slight additional charge due to the increased box size (boxes are expensive) and shipping weight, but likely much less than the $30 each.  You can always contact us at (815) 955-7004 to see if the designs you're interested in would fit in 1 box and what the actual cost to ship more than one would be.

Why does it cost so much to ship the planters?

Many factors go in to figuring out our shipping costs.  Boxes cost us between ~$3 to $10 each depending on size.  Larger boxes cost more to ship & typically weigh more.  The planters require lots of bubble wrap and other packing supplies which also adds to the cost.  Since we have to carefully wrap each piece and ensure it's protected as much as possible it takes extra time to pack the planters.  

I don't see my pet breed.  Can you make one to match my pet?

Typically yes!  We do custom design and paint to match your pet.  We can do this with the ornaments, eyeglass holders and planter boxes.  We would need to see pictures of your pet in order to quote you an exact price.  We are also continually adding new breeds and designs to what we offer.  Since I'm only one person & hand make every item, they don't always get listing in a timely fashion on the website.  We're also always improving our designs.  You can add things like bows, tongues, realistic looking eyes or button eyes to most designs upon request.  The designs are ever evolving.  

I see a planter design I like, but I want it in a different color.  Can you change the color to match my pet?

Absolutely!  I match your pet as close as I can with the paint colors that are available.  I can send you paint color options upon request.

Is there a place I can see your candles & woodwork in person?

Yes! Visit our events page to see all the events we'll be attending in northern Illinois.  You can also contact us directly to schedule a time to stop in and see different designs in person.

Why does my beeswax candle develop a white cast over time?

There is a natural process called "bloom" that happens to 100% pure beeswax candles.  Bloom refers to the whitish cast that takes over the outside of the candle.  It does not affect the way a candle burns, and is simply a natural process of the softer oils of the beeswax rising to the outside surface.  To remove bloom, simply rub the candles with a soft, lint-free cloth or gently blow on them with a warm blow-dryer.  Many people like the way the beeswax candles look with the bloom and prefer to leave it intact.  

What is candle memory?

The first time you burn a candle, it creates or sets a “memory” in the wax. This wax memory will be the foundation for how the rest of the candle will burn. If the candle is not burned properly the first time, it will start to “tunnel.” The candle needs to stay lit for approximately 2-3 hours the first time you burn it. However, burn time is dependent on the size/diameter of the candle. The general rule of thumb is: 1 hour for every 1 inch in width.

What can I do with my leftover beeswax?

We recycle left over beeswax and donate the candles we make with it to fundraisers for people in need and to animal rescues.  You can drop it off to us or, if you're local, we'll come pick it up.
